What Employers Want!
Activity 1: 'Skills and You' helps students learn what employability skills are that employers look for with examples.
Activity 2: 'Skills = Jobs' lets young people think about which skills are important to become a manager in an exercise where they have to recruit a manager for a boxing club.
Aim of Session
Helping young people to understand what skills and qualities employers seek in their employees.
Helping the young people identify their own skills and qualities (employability skills).
Learning Outcomes
1. Understand what employees look for and why;
2. Recognise and identify their own skills and qualities by drawing on examples of employability skills through home, school, outside activities;
3. Learn how to put forward their opinion and make decisions and communicate;
4. Learn how to demonstrate employability skills during an interview and what not to do at an interview!
Evaluation Activities
At the end of the session ask each person:
1. Name 3 employability skills employers want in an employee that help an organisation or business;
2. Say what 3 top employability skills you have;
3. During an interview how could you put across your employability skills;
4. Name 2 things not to do at interview.
