PRO WORK makes teachers enthusiastic about SYU in the Netherlands
Before the summer holidays, PRO WORK spoke internally about broadening the activities regarding the SYU project. Dozens of (NEET - Not in Education, Employment and/or Training) young people have already successfully started the program in the hub at the PRO WORK office in the province of Zeeland in the Netherlands, but these are all individual trajectories. Paths of young people who all had in common, that they did not know whether, but especially how they could start their own company. Career development itself also plays an important role, as it turned out, young people sometimes simply do not know what they would most like to do in their working life. As the project predicted, this is also the case with young people at school. That is why PRO WORK, after this successful start and progress with the individual young people, entered into discussions with teachers from local secondary education institutions and this resulted in positive and enthusiastic reactions.
Together with the nearest secondary school PONTES in Zierikzee (Zeeland), PRO WORK investigates at this moment the possibilities to roll out the SYU approach there. A second meeting is planned for the end of November this year with a Social Studies teacher named Thomas Korporaal, to discuss a possible curriculum that can be offered to two of his classes at VET level. The end of the project is in sight, but PRO WORK is working hard to promote the success and possibilities of the SYU modules via schools as well. To be continued :)
