How is it done for real? (UK)

Description
Example of how to kick-off SYU in a busy school in the UK.

Adriana, the SPEED You UP coach from WSX Enterprise in the UK, recently organised a kick-off day in the 6th Form college in Farnborough

It is not always possible for a school to invest a day or more in a kick-off session. Therefore, Adriana is always very well prepared when starting the project in a school. Some of her tips and tricks might come in helpful:

  • Good communication with the school is key! Make sure they know very well what to expect and what the programme entails and what kind of support will be provided.
  • Schools often want their paper work and involvement to be kept to a minimum. Understanding this and be diplomatic is very important. Offer support to the school when it comes to paperwork and administration.
  • Start recruiting students in time. Discuss with the school which students would benefit most from the project and how it should be delivered.
  • Inviting stakeholders: guest speakers, experts on Entrepreurship
